Tom Petty: Runnin’ Down a Dream

Oct 1st, 2017. Malibu, California. A desperate 911 call is placed at 10:45 pm by Dana York, the wife of Tom Petty. She tells the dispatcher she needs help because she’s found her husband unconscious.
“My husband isn’t breathing,” York says.
His wife confused and upset, the dispatcher tries to get her to administer CPR, while she waits for the ambulance to arrive.
Petty best known as the frontman of one of the most iconic rock bands, “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.” The singer, who has sold over 80-million records in his lifetime, had just ended his “40th Anniversary” final rock and roll tour one week earlier at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept 25, 2017.
When emergency personnel arrived at Petty’s home late Sunday evening they found him in “full cardiac arrest,” and the medics were unable to find a pulse. The southern rocker was immediately rushed to the emergency room at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital.
The next day Petty clinging to life, his family calls a chaplain to his hospital room to say a final prayer before taking him off life support. A few hours later, the rockstar loved by millions died peacefully at 8:40 pm. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates, and friends.”
