The legendary Chateau Marmont first opened its door in 1929, as the exclusive residence for young starlets trying to make a name for themselves in tinsel town.
On a nightly basis, the hotel caters to the Hollywood elite and has become a private hideaway for discriminating guests who need a place to escape from prying eyes or jealous spouses.
Over the years, the hotel’s scandalous history has written a sordid tale of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. The stories told include Jim Morrison falling off the roof one drunken evening, Sharon Tate’s haunting stay weeks before her murder, and John Belushi’s tragic drug overdose in Bungalow 3 to name a few.
The romantic castle towers over Sunset Strip and the hotel has a magical yet foreboding quality to it. Many guests have proclaimed to have encountered the ghosts of Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, and other dead celebrities during their stay in Suite 79 and Bungalow 3.
